The couple wanted somewhere that looked sharp but never cold, so we set the interior design around modern glamour: a base of dark grey, warmed by marble and timber, with coppery tones threaded through. The dining room runs on black, white, brown and grey, and the divider between dining and living is a sliding door built from four kinds of glass, art glass, frosted, wired and more. When daylight passes through, each one reads differently, and the wall earns its keep as both a screen and a piece to look at.

A television wall splits the living room from the dining space, which buys us storage on both sides without closing the rooms off. Grey-blue wallpaper in loose abstract patterns and marble veining in shifting tones carry the same theme across the public rooms, and a curved ceiling tidies up the living-room beam, lit so the whole flat feels fresh and contemporary.

The couple asked for a serious wardrobe, so we borrowed part of the dining room to build a walk-in cloakroom, its doors faced in crocodile-textured leather. The master bedroom shifts into grey-green leather, marble, timber and a silk-textured wallpaper, an elegant, quietly intellectual close to the home. Nearly all the joinery was custom-made by our trusted partner factory.
