Celestial Heights
Owned by a Hong Kong Resident who emigrated to the United States, the home is where she spends her time on visits in Hong Kong, whether on holiday or to check up on the business that she owns. Rising above the concrete jungle of Hong Kong, the designer sought to create a haven for the client, drawing inspiration from the natural surroundings of their home in Northern California. The wooden beams and shapes on the feature wall symbolize the forests and mountains of California. The decorative logs stir up memories of cozy evenings by the fireplace.
To enlarge the public space for entertaining guests, a wall is taken out to create a raised family room. The space is partitioned by a glass railing, accented with birds soaring towards the wide structure window ledge.
As this apartment is a second home for the owner and may sit empty and unused for months, durable materials that are easy to clean were used to make sure it is easy to maintain.
