My home? It’s probably a timber-theme theatre.

Catering for the owner’s taste, the flat uses soft colours, beige and white, as the palette. The designer has adopted wooden flooring, solid wood furniture and tailor-made wooden ceiling fan for the owner’s liking to create a cosy and quaint atmosphere in this thousand-plus-square-feet home.

However, design with only one material can be dreary. Therefore, in order to have a more dynamic design and to hide the existing flawed partitioning, the designer has incorporated some thoughtful features to cover up the imperfections. For example, grey art paint with a high tactile quality was used to decorate the beam and the shoe cabinet door at the porch. The colour matches the floor tile so as to highlight the zoning and project a sense of space.

Moreover, the windowsill in the study room has also been transformed into a large desk. Beside the desk, there installed some wall-mount shelves for storage. The study room now has a greatly-increased storage capacity and provides also a comfortable working area.”
