The owner was a bachelor who had just moved back from the US.
To strengthen the low-rise apartment’s resemblance with an American detached hosue, the first thing we did was to put in full-height windows that opened into the greenery outside.
The apartment had a low ceiling of only eight feet tall.
A versatile ceiling lighting system took attention away from the low ceiling. We also picked a slightly darker wall colour to give illusion to a higher ceiling.
The 850-square-foot apartment was smaller than the space the owner was used to living in, but it still needed to serve all purposes: sleep, work, play, and host.
We created an ensuite bedroom with a generous walk-in closet. We also created a guest room that could double up as an office, by putting in a Murphy bed that freed up space for a work desk when no visitors were here. The open kitchen let the host entertain guests even while cooking.
